Natalie decided at the age of 5 that she was a writer, penning
stories about roller skates and poems about caramel candy.
Although her subjects have changed, her focus and love for
writing has been a lifelong pursuit.
A love for rock 'n' roll passed down to Natalie from her
parents--especially her father--and she's never shaken it. As a
teenager in a pre-blog world she stormed online band communities and
penned reviews in a notebook that rarely left her side.
Upon graduation from Centennial High School in 2001, Natalie pursued a
degree in journalism with the intention of combining her passion for
music and love for writing by becoming a music journalist.
Before enrolling in her first journalism course in the Grady College of Journalism
at the University of Georgia, Natalie had been published
both online and in print within the pages of Beautiful/Decay,
a cutting-edge art and music magazine for which she has interviewed a
variety of bands ranging from The Shins to GWAR and Battles.
In 2006, Natalie graduated from college with a bachelor of arts degree
in Journalism with an emphasis on magazines and a minor in
sociology. Immediately after graduation she was chosen by SPIN
magazine as one of eight young reporters to be the magazine's eyes and
ears at the 2006 Bonnaroo Arts & Music Festival.
In addition to Beautiful/Decay,
Natalie's work has appeared online for SPIN, Stereo Subversion, Lost At
Sea, the Atlanta Music Guide, Detour and Gather and in print for the
newly launched music rag Athens
Blur. Natalie recently left her position as Assistant
Editor of The AutoPILOT
Magazine, a lifestyle publication for the general aviation
community, to focus on music writing full-time.
Natalie currently resides in midtown Atlanta and not-so-secretly hopes
to be kidnapped by the Arcade Fire.
